What’s going on you crafty sudsmen? I wanted to talk about what is going down at Blasted Barley Beer Company this week. The two topics for today are the collaboration “Blasted Bird” and our “Keg, Cask, and Barrel” party. There are so many exciting things to cover so lets just get into it!
The Blasted Bird is a collaborative effort between Blasted Barley and The Perch Brewery. The Perch, located in downtown Chandler, Arizona, is a wonderful retreat from the heat. They rescue exotic birds that do not have homes and they provide for them. The birds are very energetic and there are some mimickers if you talk with them.
The craft beer itself is a triple berry imperial IPA. We thought the idea would be refreshing, hop forward, and unique to Arizona. Coming in at a staggering 9.4% ABV, this 65 IBU Imperial IPA was double dry hopped with Citra and loaded with blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Wonderfully balanced, this purple tinted craft beer has really impressed the consumers who have tried it so far. Not that I need to convince you because you should just come try some for yourself. Currently on tap here at Blasted Barley as well as on tap at The Perch!
It was a really fun brew day when I got to adventure out to The Perch. Andrew (head brewer), Drew (assistant brewer), and Tyler (Assistant & Sales manager) were very fun to be around while we did a double 3bbl batch of Andrew’s awesome sustainable electric brewery. It’s a very unique place and uniqueness is my jam. Send us word that you really like this beer and we may be able to brew another batch of it sometime in the future. I can’t get enough of this stuff….some may say it’s “berry good”.
So as for the other event, we are having a happy hour party this Friday. It is the Keg, Cask, and Barrel Party! We did a collaboration beer with Uncle Bear’s Brewery called the Blasted Bear’s Britsh Brown. It is a milk and local honey British brown ale. All english style malts are in this delicious craft beer.
Just released a few weeks ago, the party will feature three variations of the Blated Bear’s British Brown.
Keg – our “normal” artificially carbonated version. We are able to measure the volumes of Co2 to an exact preference to what we think will taste best. The silky smooth medium bodied brown ale is a delight to enjoy.
Cask – a traditional British “real ale” that is naturally carbonated with honey inside a cask or commonly referred to as a “firkin”. The cask version will be slightly less carbon dioxide and a slightly warmer “cellar” temperature. This version was used primarily before the invention of refrigeration.
Barrel – We took the brown ale directly from the fermentation vessels to rack the beer into the cask and this local whiskey barrels. Located in Tucson, Arizona, Hamilton Distillers create a Del Bac whiskey available in three versions. We used one of the aged whiskey barrels to soak up our beautiful brown ale.
As mentioned above, this party is going down this Friday, September 2nd, starting for Happy Hour at 3pm and going until the beer runs out. Come by to try anything individually or grab a flight to do a tasting of all three versions!!
I will be there to share these delicious offerings with you, isn’t that enough?? If not, we have amazing food and even better house made craft beers. See you there!!
